Environmental Permitting Extension
In April 2010 Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2010 will add water discharge consents, groundwater authorisations and radioactive substances to currently permitted industrial activities, waste operations and batteries and mining waste production. This is the next stage in the government’s plan to have a single permitting regime in England and Wales. Further additions are likely to include water abstraction and impoundment, and waste carriers and brokers. The draft regulations can be downloaded from the OPSI website:
