Waste Minimisation

Waste disposal costs are not the only costs associated with waste. The true cost of waste can be up to 25 times the cost of disposal and up to 4.5% of a company’s annual turnover. Designing and implementing a formulised waste minimisation programme can result in significant cost savings from reduced raw material and waste disposal costs.Other benefits that can result include competitive advantage, compliance with legislation and improved staff morale.

We can assist you in releasing these benefits by implementing a structured waste minimisation programme.   This may include the following:

  • Undertaking a detailed waste minimisation survey involving an in-depth study of the waste streams produced, current disposal routes and opportunities to reduce their production by following the waste hierarchy (i.e. reduce, reuse, recycle). This would involve a site visit and report production.
  • Run internal brainstorming sessions and workshops that will be designed to ensure that staff at all corporate levels (e.g. operators, supervisors and managers) views on how waste production could be reduced are taken into account.
  • Produce an action plan stating measures that could be implemented to reduce waste costs. Often many actions required are no-cost and low-cost and can be implemented quickly.
  • Provide on-site detailed support on a regular, scheduled basis to implement your waste minimisation action plan.

We have much skills and experience in the provision of the above services and have identified hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of waste minimisation savings opportunities.
