Water Reduction

Water has use has many hidden costs. Most organisations only consider what they pay the water company for its supply. Other costs that should however be taken into account include those associated with water treatment, pumping, maintenance, effluent treatment and discharge, capital depreciation and the value of lost raw materials and product. It has been calculated that the true cost of water can be more than three times the total amount charged for supply and disposal and can be over 1% of turnover.

We can assist you in releasing these benefits by implementing a structured waste minimisation programme.   This may include the following:

  • Undertaking a waste use survey and water balance with the objective of identifying opportunities to reduce water and effluent costs. Such a survey could involve identification of the major points at which water is used, identifying the water quality requirement and availability at each point and checking water use in different areas when production has ceased. This would involve a site visit and report production.
  • Run internal brainstorming sessions and workshops that will be designed to ensure that staff at all corporate levels (e.g. operators, supervisors and managers) views on how water use could be minimised are taken into account.
  • Produce an action plan stating measures that could be implemented to reduce water costs. Often many actions required are no-cost and low-cost and can be implemented quickly.
  • Provide on-site detailed support on a regular, scheduled basis to implement your water reduction action plan.

We could reduce you water and effluent bills significantly by providing the above services. Please contact us for further information.
